Has anyone used strattera for inattention and impulsivity? My online search has shown 1 severe reaction to it. My daughter is struggling with increased aggression at school and I am concerned about using Strattera.

Aboout 2 years ago Fredrik (age 21 then) started being more aggressive (this seems to happen in streaks). He was put on Abilify and then Seroquel. The results were yucky - weight gain and a growly, isolative personality. We took him off all ALL meds experimentally. That was a mess. He bite himself horribly, hit people even strangers in stores. I had always wondered how he would be without meds and I found out that he needs some help from meds. We put him back on hydroxyzine and that seemed to stop him from biting himself. We tried clonazepam also but that was another horror story - his appetite disappeared and he lost 30 (yes thirty) pounds over 3 months and his gums became so red. We stopped that and put him on Paxil at 10 mg with some success. But the GOOD NEWS is we then tried Valium (just a lucky guess) twice a day and that has seemed to help so much with his aggression and mood. He also gets trazodone at night but still awakens two or three times each night like any "good" SMS person. We tried the melatonin study where it is given right away in the a.m. and then at night but it had no effect.
Freddy lives in a group and the structure there and definite bedtime seem to help him also. We have him home about every 3 weeks and then he gets up during the night to eat. So you may want to try Valium as it has wworked for our son (keeping our fingers crossed).
